Indoor Garden

Ever tried growing a small garden in your house but thought the electricity for the lights would cause a fortune?  LED lights are being used to help lower the costs and make indoor gardening more attractive.

Here are some benefits you’d find from the use of LED for indoor gardening:

  • Lower lighting costs because of the energy efficient light produced by LED.
  • LEDs are provide the spectrum of light the plants need for efficient and healthy growth.
  • Life expectancy for LED is longer than bulbs traditionally used and LEDs are less likely to break.
  • LEDs are supposed to supply a softer light than traditional lights.  Often this is referred to as “white light” glare and is hard on the eyes.
  • Traditional bulbs not only produce a bright light but also a great deal of heat.  Since LEDs produce less heat, plants are less likely to get root damage from heating of their pots.
  • Plants are also suppose to transpire less under LEDs so you’ll have not only be conserving on energy but also water.

Don't forget to be prepared for those icy sidewalks this winter.  Try using pea gravel (rocks) or sand instead of salt for ice melt.
